British carrier Virgin Atlantic debuted new suites in its Upper Class cabin this past weekend.
Passengers flying from London to New York on Saturday were the first to sit in the new Upper Class suites, which were installed on Virgin Atlantic's new "Miss Sunshine" A330 aircraft. The jet is the first in the airline's fleet to feature the new configuration.
The Australian Business Traveller offers a review on the new seating area, calling it "a stylish evolution of the current design." The publication appears to endorse the change, saying "the result (of the redesign) is a much more contemporary look redolent of a chic yet elegant bar instead of an overdose of bling."
Or, for highlights of the new cabin in the Virgin Atlantic's own words, check out the video tour at www.virginatlanticplaneview.com or scroll down to see how the company touted the suites in a press release:
Virgin has re-engineered and reinvented their Upper Class Suite, creating a fabulous new onboard experience, with great new features including:
• The suite's revolutionary new comfort system. It gives travelers more luxurious and comfortable sleep than ever. Plus with a huge 87-inch (220 cm/7 foot two inch) bed surface, the bed is longer than any other airlines business class bed
• Using the same comfort system, the new espresso colored leather seat is more spacious and comfortable than ever. It has an extra one and a half inch seat width plus it now reclines up to 50% more
• For those who Fancy a drink, the futuristic new onboard bar has a changed orientation, it's separate from the cabin and it has great new spaces to sit and socialize with fellow passengers. It is also the longest bar in the air
• The cabin has a chic new look, with a stylish, uplifting interior, flashes of the airline's famous red, and Swarovski crystal accents for that touch of Virgin Atlantic sparkle.
• Each seat has its own aisle access.
• A new window has been built into the wall of each suite, offering more light and space, but its unique opaque design offers the same levels of privacy Virgin's Upper Class Suite is famous for.
• Each suite has a 12.1 inch touchscreen monitor with a touchscreen handset, and it's loaded with Virgin's brand new entertainment system called JAM. With the addition of a new technology hub, travelers can connect their smart phone, USB stick or tablet to JAM, watch, read or listen to their own content while also charging the device.
• Your new passenger control unit still has lumbar support plus clever firm touch buttons to prevent accidental activation.
• All of the new A330 aircraft have the AeroMobile system installed so travelers can make and receive phone calls and send texts from their mobile devices.
• The cabin's new mood lighting system is programmed to create unique, calming environments for travelers to work, dine, socialize and sleep.
